Hummus: God’s Gift To Mankind

Hummus: God’s Gift To Mankind

If you open the Wikipedia page on hummus, then you will discover that it is a Middle-Eastern dip made of cooked and mashed chickpeas and then blended with tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and garlic. It is an immensely important staple of Middle-Eastern cuisine and it is so important to the citizens of Lebanon that they actually petitioned to the European Union to grant hummus protected status as a uniquely Lebanese food.

Let us all get some facts straight first. Hummus is not a dip. It is so much more than that. It is God’s gift to all of mankind. Hummus is easily one of the most versatile and delicious foods in the world. Good quality hummus is fluffy, creamy and smooth. It is so delicious and pairs so well with just about anything. From pita bread to nachos to tortilla chips, Karnis hummus complements and elevates the taste of your entire meal. Hummus is also insanely healthy. It has high amounts of proteins, fibers, and important minerals. It also has a very small amount of carbohydrates per serving.

But the best thing about hummus is not that it is so healthy. The best feature of hummus is that it is insanely delicious. Creamy, fluffy hummus is like heaven for the taste buds. Mix it with some Tahini, olive oil, salt, and pepper and you will have the most delicious and healthy meal ever.

Do you want to take a shot at making something great from hummus? It is so easy and the result will be so delicious that you will not be able to resist making it again. If you are too short of time, you can try the lip-smacking Karnis hummus containers that are ready to use. Fluffier and Creamier, I just love it! It gives the creamy, frothy consistency that you are looking for. What you only need to do is have some base (Burger bun, wheat tortilla, bread, pita bread) and a generous layer of shredded chicken, meat, and/or fresh veggies.

You can also consider using authentic Karnis Tahini with a frothy and lemony puree inside some wrap, falafel, shawarmas. If you are feeling too lazy, just eat your Karnis Hummus with some warm and crunchy pita bread and savour the delicious treat available in your own kitchen. I love this age-old tradition of my family, minimalistic yet immensely satiating.

Now let me take you through some scrumptious twists you could add to hummus and make it your own. Everybody adores hummus. If you ever host guests and serve three different kinds of hummus, all your guests will go crazy. Here are some mind-bending tweaks on the original hummus that will make your party the talk of the town.

  • Smoky-sweet hummus
  • Spicy Hummus
  • Israeli hummus
  • Cheese infused hummus

Now let me take you on a journey where we will see quite a few healthy yet sumptuous dishes that you can make using hummus.

  • Sandwiches With Hummus: Does this sound weird? Does this sound like something crazy and along the lines of pineapple chunks in a sandwich? Don’t worry. This is one of the tastiest things you will ever eat. I love making this because it is so easy to make. What I do is after I spread out the homemade bread, I spread spicy hummus on it instead of sandwich spread. Then I top it with cucumber slices, fresh cut tomatoes, onion slices, some fresh cheese, etc. This is an absolute feast, which is loved, my friends and family alike.
  • Wraps With Hummus Sauce: One of my favorite things to do with hummus ever is to incorporate it into my wrap sauce. This is the simplest hummus dish and my personal favorite. The wrap cooks in very little time. I recommend serving the wrap with the sauce along with some crumbled goat’s cheese garnished over it and obviously, a glass of wine.
  • Falafel with Hummus: This is actually the simplest snack of all. Spread your hummus on flat pita bread and sprinkle some roughly chopped onion and parsley on it. Sprinkle finely chopped garlic cloves and ready fried falafel balls. Your yummy veggie-filled nourishing meal is ready. This is the traditional way. You can also try olives, mushrooms or cumin if you want something else.
  • Hummus Tortilla Vegetable Wrap: If you have leftover rice/brown rice then just add some veggies like spinach, carrots, olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, lettuce, etc to it. Add hummus evenly to the entire mixture. Then warm a tortilla for about 15 seconds in your microwave. Spread this mixture over the tortilla bread and roll it just like a burrito.
  • Hummus Burger: One of the cleverest ways in which you can get your kids to eat healthily is by inconspicuously slipping hummus into their favourite dishes. If you do it properly, they will not ever know. One of the most kid-friendly recipes out there is the hummus burger. Take spiced hummus and mix it into your burger patty meat. Then you can cook the patty and serve it in your burger the traditional way. The kids will go gaga over this sneakily tasty creation of yours.
  • Salads: One of the best things about hummus is its versatility. You can also use hummus as an alternative salad dressing like I love to do. It is a wonderful condiment and when you whip it up with some tahini and lemon juice, you get wonderful vinaigrette that you can use as a salad dressing.
  • Hummus Quesadilla: If you are in the mood for a Mexican treat, then hummus and chicken quesadillas are the healthiest and tastiest choice. A quesadilla is a Mexican delicacy in which a corn tortilla is filled with a variety of fillings and then grilled. Instead of the traditional fillings of cheese, you can fill your tortilla with hummus, juicy shredded chicken, some fresh-tossed salad and your favorite sauce. Then, you just need to grill it for a little while before you can serve it to your friends and family with your favorite dips. For the dips, you can also use hummus.
  • Hummus Egg Toast: This is the healthiest and heartiest breakfast dish that will successfully incorporate hummus. Take a beautifully toasted slice of whole wheat bread and spread some warm spicy hummus on it. Then top that with a soft-boiled egg. While serving, split open the egg and watch in awe as the yolk runs all over your delectable hummus toast. This will make your brunch parties the talk of the town. If you are feeling particularly ambitious (which I do a lot), then you can also take your toast to the next level with some avocado paste and lemon juice.
  • Hummus Muffins: How about a savory-sweet treat that is healthy and absolutely delectable? I recommend making spicy hummus muffins. The right balance between the sweet and the spicy will make this dish an absolute hit with adults and children alike. You do not have to worry about these muffins going uneaten because the kids will finish them off in one sitting. You have my assurance.

Therefore, I want to conclude by saying that hummus is the most versatile and adaptable dish I have ever come across. The way it is capable of adapting to different cuisines, palates and societies are just unbelievable. It is a gem of a dish. I hope these tips will enable you to whip up some healthy and delicious treats for your family and friends (and of course, for yourself).
